Football and rugby synthetic surfaces will usually be sand filled or rubber filled, with clients increasingly having the newer 3G rubber filled pitches being installed.

The rubber filled 3G surfaces provides excellent playing conditions allowing the ball good roll and the players a safe surface to use. The rugby surface will generally have a longer pile of grass and the rubber infill helps to cushion the players also.

Sand filled surfaces are common on multi-use pitches where football, along with other sports, such as hockey or tennis, are also played. A faster pace of play is often the case on a sand filled surface.

Regular maintenance will be required on these surfaces which can be tailored to individual sporting venues and our expert technicians will use the appropriate equipment to carry out the necessary work. We can also provide machinery for the centre to carry out their own daily, weekly or monthly maintenance, allowing Protech Allweather to manage more specialist maintenance.

Pitch care packages and Pitch Cleanses should be scheduled to ensure the surfaces are kept in optimum condition so avoid loss of revenue through pitch closure from unsafe surfaces. Pitch cleanse should be carried out every 3- 5 years to give the surface a deep clean and remove any compaction of the fibres that may have taken place. This is also an ideal time to top up any infill levels that have dropped over time.

We also have a team of highly experienced repair technicians who are excellent at repairing any parts of the surface that have been damaged for any reason. This can include: seam repairs, tears, line damage, penalty spot replacement and burn marks. We will always endeavour to replace any areas with like for like grass.
